update.
He is pushing two feet, eating good, I now leave my lights on 24/7, almost out of a good shed, 138-140 basking, 60-75 percent humidity, I am adding more sand/soil mixture this weekend. He also has a new enclosure

Hi, are you sure the monitor is a male, or are you just using that title for now?

I am 100 percent positive, but I will try to get some pics of the tail base for you.

Re: update.
The only problem that I can see with you leaving the lights on 24/7 is that it doesnt look like your monitor likes your soil, and hence hasnt dug a burrow. If there is no burrow, then there is no way for your monitor to get away from the constant light. Have you tried different soil mixes? Or have you tried starting a burrow for it?

Thanks for the pic, have you actually seen the hemipenes fully everted? How old, as far as you know is the monitor (not that age has much to do with sexual maturity)?

O.k, it`s very possible the monitor is already sexually mature, Dr. Daniel Bennett found that the females reach maturity at 27cm ToL (10.5inches) in the areas he studied them.
Please take a few more tailbase pics when you can, I have a feeling this may be a female (don`t quote me just yet, though)!
