Blizzard x Pastel Albino

I know that blizzard is a recessive gene, if I were to breed these together would it make 50% normal het blizzard and 50% pastel albino het blizzard?

Re: Blizzard x Pastel Albino

Confusing question for the lampropeltis forum.

I take it you mean blizzard Cali king since that's in your sig?
But what species of snake is pastel albino?....I don't get it? No lampropeltis is except a hybrid ruthveni x thayeri. They are called pastel kings...

Anyway..... A blizzard cal king is an amelanistic unicolored or extreme hypermelanistic double homozygote. Both the hypermelanisr and amel genes are recessive.

The snake was listed as a pastel albino, it's probably listed wrong. Now I know I shouldn't buy it lol..

Re: Blizzard x Pastel Albino

Please just find another California king to breed your blizzard to. No need for any more hybrid mutts in the hobby.....just my two cents.

The snake was listed as a pastel albino king. Is there anything I can breed a blizzard to and get some cool results?

Re: Blizzard x Pastel Albino

Since your blizzard is amel and hypermel I'd breed her to a male lavender and make triple hets. Those babies, when bred together will produce lavenders, amels, hypermels, blizzards and purple passions.

If you don't want to wait that long you could breed a male amel to her and produce all am els that are het for hypermel......throwing a banded or striped amel male in with her could give you an array of patterns on those amels....and if your male amel is het for other traits those amel offspring will be definite het hypermel and possible het for the other traits the sire is definite het for.

Or you could breed a hypermel male to her and produce all hypermel offspring het foramel......

I hope i didn't confuse you......lol

Re: Blizzard x Pastel Albino

And I don't know what a pastel albino king is unless it is a thayeri x ruthveni cross......

I understand biology pretty well, thanks for telling me all these awesome combos though. I want to get a lavender for sure! The purple passion looks awesome.

Also the pastel albino they have was a white snake but it had really light red/yellow bands and really light red markings on the head.
