Orange Throat Skink

Does anyone know anything about these?? I'm going to check the web but figured you guys are smart so I'd ask here too. Also I would like to know any info on skinks in general, like size, housing anything like that. I believe that the latin name is mabuya multifasciata. I also think that another name for it is gold skink. Of any of this I'm not 100% sure.

well...i bought a skink in a pet store....sold to me as a blue tail skink which is very funny since MANY juvis have blue tails
she turned out to be a mabuya but i have yet to see any pix that look exactly like her
since she is African and a basker, i have a basking bulb and a UVB fluo bulb
i have a 20 gal long tank for her and one end i have sand topped with cypress mulch and cork bark hide and in the other (the basking end) i have just sand and a rock thing for her to climb all over
i feed her twice a week - once crix and the other dusted mealies
she started producing eggs although housed alone when she was in transition from juvi to adult but not anymore and during that time i dusted every meal with calcium
i have not found any info on this pretty and very shy little cutie so i'm winging it

Well the skink that I might get is only 30.00. I'm guessing that's really cheap for a skink. I've seen a few at another petstore and they were like 140.00 and up.

If you can get a Latin name to us, perhaps we could help you out a bit more in depth. Skinks have a thousand different common names, and chances are that "Orange Throat Skink" is just a clever marketing ploy by a pet shop employee based on observation of the animals appearance. Ask the employee for a latin name on it... They should atleast be able to find out in due time for you.

Thanks for the help. I did find a LITTLE bit of info enough to make me feel that I can take care of it. I did end up buying one. I'm surprised how tame it is. Their damn quick though!!
