Converting photos

If I convert a photo for my logo into either monochrome or a hand-drawn appearance, does it matter the size or MB of the initial photo? In other words, will a photo from my Smartphone ( 8 MP, 3264x2448 pixels) work well?

Remember the pic will need to be 72" x 30" on a banner.

Re: Converting photos

More often than not, an 8mp photo is going to be able to be enlarged to about 11x14 and even then you might be losing some quality. But of course you wont lose as much quality in just a text and line drawing type image. You do have the option of printing proportionally small to the 72x30 size, then you can scan that onto a computer using a quality scanner and enlarge it in the scan to the size of image you want. A really good photo store should be able to scan and enlarge to a pretty big size for you, if you dont have the equipment available.
