Beautiful, may i make a suggestion tho? I personally would put one more perch in anout halfway between the lowest one and ground level, it will help him get back on his favourite after eating

thankyou yea i did some research on who i wnated to make a purchase from and got to the expo early met the guy, checked out the snake browsed around and came back when i decided it was the prettiest/healthiest one i saw. i didnt go with a hatchling as from what i understand feeding is an issue usually at first. i was going to go with an aru but the biak caught my eye more. its very defensive lol but makes a great display animal which is what i enjoy most! im still adding some cage decor mostly fake plants/vines. hes been exploring since the bulb shut off.

gtp have delicate spines in their early years,so most folk only handle when necessary,imo they make beautiful display snakes (Rob will know more about,the spine kinking)

i hope to get an adult male GTP at some point,i'd like to try a breed Capondro's and Jagpondro's

also its the first time i've seen a GTP on the ground,i'm used to seeing them coiled up hanging off a perch,it was nice to see the whole body and the overall shape of the snake

i love the shape and look of their head and heat pits,they look very dragon like imo

it was right when i let him exit the clothbag. he quickly found a perch though


heres a more natural pic. i flipped the light on real quick after it was off for about an hour or so. i dont plan on doing any handling unless im forced to for some reason. the perches are easily removed so i dont think it will be required any time soon. im super stoked about the little fellow though

Congrats on the pick up. I love my Biak, he is a little jerk as well and that is half what I love about him. Your set up looks good just be sure to not feed to large a prey Item as it can cause issues with GTP's. I feed a max of 1.5 times its largest point and I feed every 10-14 days.

it had been a week i was told since his last meal, he seemed to be in hunting mode last night so i fed him today. far more simple then i could have hoped for. i didnt get any video but i will next time. it was after the light went off so he was climbing around the perches i just held a small fuzzy with tongs and he went right for it. pretty neat

Good to hear that he already ate for you, we all know that's a soothing accomplishment for any new snakes that come into our collection.

You decided to go with Biak I see, not a bad call at all. I have a 1/2 Biak specimen and will be looking to get a full Biak sometime down the road.. The cool thing about Biaks is that they take longer to go through their colour change, 3-4 (even 5 I hear) years as opposed to 1~1.5 year in other locales.

That is one thing I like about Biaks also.. Here is my guy he is just over 2yrs old.

so the second feeding went pretty well. took him 2 minutes or so of tongue flicking to actually hit the mouse but he did.
