what to feed him?
Just got my new juvenile carpet, it is about 12 inches long. They told me that it is currently eating pinkies. Do you guys think its safe to say that they mean rat pinkies or do think im better off with mouse pinkies?

Re: what to feed him?
i offer ONLY rats to my carpets, from their first feed straight out the egg
it can be difficult to cross carpets from mice to rats,i've also found the older the carpet the harder it becomes
your carpet will be able to take rat pups/pinkies without problems
a carpet can take 3,4,5,times their girth in prey size
i feed hatchlings once every 7 days
sub adults and adults 1 large prey item every 20 to 30 days
you'd be surprized how big a piece of prey a carpet will take
cheers shaun

Re: what to feed him?
As above
Rats are clearly better but it may be worth asking the place you got it from to clarify.

Re: what to feed him?
i talked to the breeder and he said it eats mice. so i took your guys advice and gave it a rat and he took it. he was pretty hesitant so i had to be persistant but eventually he just causually put his mouth on it and started eating. i didnt scent it or anything! i guess i got off easy huh
although it looked like he was struggling with the rat and it left a huge bump
