Keeping carpets in pairs?

I recently got a Diamond/ Jungle and a Tiger Coastal... The Diamond/Jungle (male) is bigger then the Coastal(female), around 4 feet, and the Coastal is a year old, just over 2 feet. I was hoping to keep them together as a pair. I was told I could do this, but the male seems a little to interested in the female. I've been keeping them apart because of this... I was wondering though, has anyone actually heard of carpets eating each other? I don't know if the male is just curious or it wants to eat the female.
The male in general is a lot more aware of whats happening the room then any other snake I've ever had. It kind of reminds me of a Bearded Dragon, an aggressive one that is.

Only put the two together if you want to breed, otherwise they live apart

I have housed my 7.5 ft coastal and my 3.5 ft ball python together with no problems. Both are female.

That is a big size difference. I'd seperate them just to be on the safe side. But please post some pics!

i keep SAME sized females together

SAME sized male and females together

i split up the males and females before/during brumation

then i only introduce,the males and females to each other,that i want to breed

i have had NO issues keeping SAME SIZED carpets together

also i know plenty morelia keepers who do this,some keep up to 3 SAME females together in the same tank

NEVER KEEP TWO MALES together,as this may lead to COMBAT

P.S.personally i would let your two carpets get to around the SAME SIZE,before i kept them together

Thanks guys... I would like to breed them in the future, but both are obviously far from maturity still. I'll let them get closer to the same size before I put them together. Also, I tried to start a thread posting pics, but for some reason the files won't load on here.

That is just all sorts of crazy!!! The husbandry requirements are different for a starter!! Can oyu explain your set up please??

People say & do all kinds of stupid crap, doesn't mean you should follow their examples

Males & females should only be housed together for breeding purposes, thus they both require to be of proper age/size to do so & in the proper season.
So to the OP NO they should not be housed together.
Once they are ready to breed & you ar ready to have them breed then they can be together, thats a few years away yet. Mark

Please don't, there's so many integrade carpets out there already and in the states people are trying to move away from that. If you want to breed, get a nice coastal for the tiger and a diamond, jungle, or diamond/jungle if you insist on breeding yours.

hoghead almost seems like a troll. keeping two different species of anything together is absurd, not to mention size, care differences, etc.

hey it only takes ONCE for one of them to decide to get grumpy, get hungry, anything. It's not worth the risk to the snakes themselves.

I might, I guess I'll see what happens down the line. These snakes are still far off from maturity though, So it will be a few years before I even think about it.
