Retic headscale ? Problem? or Not...

Hey guys so my male retic is just hitting 3 foot. He had his first shed with me about a week ago and he looked beautiful. a couple days ago though i noticed that his head scales started to look different. they looked almost "dry" and dark. Before his head would have that same irridescent shine the rest of his body has but now it looks a little more "matte" or rough. At first i thought it was humidity but his is fine. is this really a problem? anybody else experience this with their snakes? Also after feeding he always rubs his mouth agains his branch/perch for a little bit. is this normal?
