Impressive learning capacity

As we all know, my two Savannah Monitor babies are almost like living lab rats, every moment of their young lives are being documented, recorded and reported.

Anyway, Cera has recently learned a new pattern all on her own.

It does not seem to matter where she is in the cage, if I walk into the room, she immediately runs to the same exact spot under her wooden "log ramp" and sticks her face out to await a yummy treat.

If you pay attention to the feeding photos I have been posting, every one of them for the last several days has been taken in the same exact spot.

Today Cera was basking under the flood lights when I walked into the room, and sure enough ran full speed and assumed the "feed me" position under the ramp.

So of course the reward was a few tong fed Dubia.

Now if I could just get Littlefoot to do something similar.

That's awesome. Not unexpected...they are pretty smart, and darn cute! This is going to be one heck of a cool record for monitor keepers. Don't stop!

Re: Impressive learning capacity

Very cool, mine always runs down from the basking spot when I come in carrying the white box of worms into his burrow/house. He then sticks his head just close enough to the entrance that I can only see the tongue flicking. Once I get the cage open and the food items in, he comes out, has a feast then walks over to the other end of the cage, backs up under the stacks, poops then crawls up to the basking spot and watches me clean up the mess.
It is an every day routine with us now.

Have started to keep a journal as well.

Keeping records of temp, humidity and feeding respose.

Nice work mate.... hopefully littlefoot won't be far behind. Never under estimate how smart the little buggers are.
