First (in my care) shed

My yearling Coastal is going into his first shed since I got him. I noticed he had not come out from his log all week. He is usually very shy and the only way I see him out of his hide EVER is on my security camera at night when he comes out at like 3am for a little cruising around the enclosure. He hasn't been out all week, and I figured he might be getting ready to shed. I checked on him today and his eyes were clouded over. This is my first snake, and his first shed since I got him, so I'm pretty excited. I gave the tank a good misting, and I'll try to keep the humidity up a bit for a couple of days. Hopefully it goes well!

This is probably the most boring post on this forum in a while, but I'm excited and I had to tell the world

Re: First (in my care) shed

So This morning I woke up to find a beautiful complete skin chip (it was right under the lamp so it got nice and crispy. Head to tail in one piece, including eye caps and all. I didn't pull him out of his log to check out his new skin, but I'll get some pictures tonight when I feed him. I have a security DVR with one camera pointed at his tank, but for some reason it stopped recording right when he came out, and started recording again right after he was done shedding. Of course the 20 minutes all night it doesn't record for some reason are the 20 minutes when he comes out and sheds Oh well. I'm just glad it went by without issues. I can't wait to check out his new look!

I'll post pics later after I get home.

Yeah! Complete skin means good husbandry. Nice job! It doesn't matter how many times, shedding is always exciting.
