Question Temps...

Hello,

I think the temp for my female (in a 15gal tank with a 75W infrared lightbulb) is too high, and that may be why she is always in her hide. What do you think? My male (the more active one) is in a 10gal tank with a 50W infrared lightbulb. I think she likes her hide too much, so later ill go change her hide for another one to see if it makes a difference.

cya,

What are the temps? Wattage tells us nothing since we don't know what temp your house it at. Anyways, Leos should have a gradient of 88 on the hot side and 80 on the cool side during the day and 80 hot and 75ish cool at night.

I find an 80-90 gradient works best, but the cool side can be allowed to drop lower so long as the hot spot is still sustained. Those temps are definitely not too warm. Is she hiding all the time? Keep in mind these guys are nocturnal and will spend all day sleeping so you aren't likely to see them unless your up at night

the thing is that when i go to bed a 11,12 and 1 she is still hiding.
But now i took her big hide away and replaced it with a smaller one, now she is more often out and sleeps on a log or on her heat pad.
