Egg Dimpling and Humidity

My husband now believes that this forum is the best place ever...

Now my newly hatched Lacerta eggs are in their incubator BUT they are dimpled I am assuming its the lack of humidity so what I did was wet the vermiculite they were in and then put the lids on their individual containers to try and increase the humidity in their separate little environments I didn't poke any holes in the lids (I wanted to puff them up)

my question is:

Did I do the right thing AND should I do something else?

my set up is as follows:

the incubator is a reptibator along with the egg containers (with lids clicked on) there is a bowl of wet spagnum moss and a bowl with wet toilet paper tubes

the temperature at egg level is about 82 and the humidity is close to 80

The vermiculite you put them in should be quite wet. It's normal for them to dimple a bit, but not sure how much Lacerta eggs should dimple at an early stage. It's normal for them to dimple more as they get closer to hatching, and as long as they're not *too* dimpled yet, you may have caught them in time.

Do they still feel okay to the touch?

they're ok.. I think a couple of them are puffing up but I am starting to hate this incubator because I have a temp probe where the eggs are and its 5 degrees colder than what its supposed to be so I have to crank the heat right up... I think it was because she caught me by surprise she laid 2 weeks early

Now I'm getting condensation on some of them so I am trying to figure out whats worse

Eeeek I have no advice to offer other than keep a close eye on them and hopefully you will get to hatch out most of them!

Thanks kat, I candled them yesterday and 8 of 10 have veins and visible embryos!!

83 days i hope they make it... this species is difficult to hatch in captivity so its a learning curve these may not make it either but at least im not getting slugs anymore and with any luck I will get another set in 6 weeks or so

good luck 83 days is a lot of time for things to go wrong
