Getting Fed Up with rack

Getting fed up with my rack, i NEED a thermostat asap, last night i went into the snake room and the temps were 114!!! after being a nice 91 for the last 4 weeks!! wtf!?!

ugh i am just sooooo annoyed... i am ordering a thermostat later tonight when i get home from work.

the one i posted a link about in one of my previous threads is the one im getting, i can just set it to 91-92 and forget it

then all i ll have to do is make sure i get enough ventilation holes to keep ambient temp down..

sorry for petty rant, just annoyed... lol

Re: Getting Fed Up with rack

why would you even set up a rack without a thermostat, thats just dumb.

If you are going to be annoyed you only have yourself to be annoyed at.

Re: Getting Fed Up with rack

I'm gonna have to agree with bladeblaster. Probably should've gotten one already. Just too risky IMO

Re: Getting Fed Up with rack

I am guessing you have a rheostat on there now? They are too risky in my mind cos they dont react to ambient changes.

Re: Getting Fed Up with rack

Surely this is a joke post.

No one would plug in Flexwatt without a temperature regulator, right?

It has always been on a rheostat... but when i switched to belly heat, the ambient temps went WAAAAY up and now is messing my whole system up...

b4 the belly heat, i had perfect temps and perfect humidity, now everything is messed up because of the belly heat providing more ambient temps..

i drilled more holes and the helped, but now my current rheostat is messed up and not working properly...

i would never put flexxwatt on anything without a temp controller of some sort.... at all... that is just dumb.

once again i say, it is on a rheostat right now, but the ambient is throwing off everything.

I looked at the home thermostat, but dont trust myself with that type of stuff...

i already ordered a thermostat, but its not a proportional one, should i get a proportional one or what?
this is the one i ordered.

A rheostat is NOT a temperature control device, its a resistance control, if your temps change it does nothing.

I will stick by what I said thanks.

well im sorry, i thought a TEMPERATURE CONTROL DEVICE, controlled the temperature... which a rheostat does do, just not as well as a thermostat... your right to your opinion, just think about how you come across to other people.

Re: Getting Fed Up with rack

a rheostat kind of controls temp, it controls the energy output to a heat device. If the parameters of the enclosure changes, the rheostat doesn't. Say the heat stops working in the winter, the rheostat fails to recognize the drop in temperature in the viv as a result of the drop in the surrounding area. Vice versa if the a/c goes out on a hot day during the summer. Its also possible something (a dog perhaps) bumped the knob. Another member lost a clutch because their cat decided to turn up the temp on the incubator by brushing against the knob. The exact same concept applies to the majority of car climate controls. Its another form of rheostat.
