New set up for corn snake

Let me know what you all think. It is a 33 gal tank with locking lid. It will be housing a baby Corn snake. There are 5 hides of appropriate size for him, silk vines and bushes for hiding in, 2 water dishes one on the cold side and one on the hot. So far temps are holding at 86 and 74 and humidity is about 65%.

Re: New set up for corn snake

is that wrong? the breeder said this was good for corns, and is what she had in all her tubs. I thought that some people here had said this was ok for corns as well.

Depends what wood the shavings are... aspen is good, pine is bad.

Looks good apart from the shavings - aspen would be better imo - also the humidity is a little high - whilst not necessarily a bad thing you dont need to worry about keeping it that high for corns.

Yes the shavings are Aspen. The humidity is the natural humidity, I've done nothing to make it higher, we just have very high humidity here ob the coast. Should I be trying to lower humidity or does it matter?

Re: New set up for corn snake

I would try to increase the airflow a little but dont think it will cause any major issues.

Re: New set up for corn snake

alright, Yesterday was just an odd day as we had a huge rainstorm, thr humidity outside the tank was 80(ish), we got 40mm of rain!! It's clearing up now though, so humidity should go down. But it gives me a heads-up for what winter may be like!!

Re: New set up for corn snake

I am hoping to be able to meet up with the breeder either tonight or tomorrow, depending on her schedule. She is pretty busy getting ready for the expo in AB, she leaves on the 25th, so I really want to go get him before she goes!!
