New Bearded Dragon (Isa)

Hey Guys,

I am in the process of getting a Beardie, Im getting him from a friend that can no longer properly take care of him, he/she is about 1 1/2 years old i think, and between 12-14" , he is in a Exo terra terrarium right now, only a 24 by 18 i think, one of the smaller ones, I am putting him in my larger terrarium, the largest Exo makes, the 36' by 18' by 24 i think.

I just need to know requirements etc... i will be getting a Black box and a heat lamp, the black box being the uvb and all that,and the heat lamp for heat lol, I just need to know relative temps required, and eating habits etc.. I have repti sand in there rightnow, with repti bark mixed in, but im gonna take the bark out, and just use the sand.

He currently lives in a smaller tank, with a log and one of those turtle hide logs, on repti carpet, and i believe he is fed those dragon pellets or whatever, and occasional lettuce, so i know he will be in a better home with me.

Also, I have understood that they arent humidity lovers so my screen top will be fine right? as I also have a Savannah Monitor but he is in a 6x3x4 custom wooden terrarium and his temps are like 120-130 on the hot side and about roughly 30-50% humidity depending on the time of day andheat etc... now i know Beardies dont require so much heat and little or no humidity right?

He will need a 4foot enclosure at some point but moving him up to the 36 will be much better for him for now. Looking forward to the pics!!!

I suggest you take a look at this site, it will give you all the information you need for him. Lighting, feeding temps...all that good stuff. If I can make one suggestion is get him a branch or something he can climb up to bask on. Beardies love being up high looking down onto things.

So apparently Isa doesnt like green beans, he likes romaine lettuce though lol, i put green beans in and he took one and actually spit it out haha, not sure if it was because i had sprayed them with the reptile multi-vitamin or not lol, but it was rather comical lol, what other greens will he eat? brocoli? apples? celery?? spinach?? give me some ideas

Any type of lettuce beardies will eat a ton of but it is useless for them to eat. So here is what is good for him to eat without you having to do anything to it.

Collard Greens, Mustard Greens, Turnip Greens, Dandilion Greens, Yellow Squash, Alfalfa (plant no sprouts), Cactus Pear, Endive, Escarole, Phoenix Worms, Silk Worms

My 4 year old guy is uber picky and he didn't enjoy the shift to the greens from romaine. Now a days he will eat it 50% of the time and the other 50% of the time just poo in the bowl...just give it some time.
