JCP not eating

So i tried feeding my JCP a week ago. It was another rat fuzzy and I put it in her feed tank and she had no interest in it after about 30 minutes. I tried dangling it and nothing. She got to the point where I pissed her off and she struck at it to say leave me alone, but didn't bite and hold.

I figured they were a few months old being in the freezer so I got 10 rat pups from Layne Labs. Defrosted one tonight in hot water and tried dangling it....nothing It is now just sitting on the bottom of the tank. while she sits on a branch above looking for a way out.

I'm at a loss. This is now almost 3 weeks in a row she hasn't eaten. She looks good, active at night and everything. Temps in 80s.

Should I be concerned or just try again soon?

How long should I leave her in the tank with the rat before I give up tonight? It's dead so no worries her being attacked

Size wise it is about what she was eating with rat fuzzys.

I wish she would just eat....

I would assume you have had her for a bit? Like a week or so without messing with her? If so just leave the prey in there overnight without messing with her...like in her home. On a little dish or something.

See if that helps. That is what others have told me in the past.

Snakes can go a long time without food, if i were you id weigh the snake, and leave him alone for a week, try again, if he wont eat try again in another week. As long as he isn't getting really skinny you have nothing to worry about. Captive snakes tend to spend allot of time sitting still and therefore require little energy to sustain their lifestyle.

Temps, Mites?
Try leaving it in overnight, if she doesn't eat throw it out. Don't try again next week wait a few weeks without disturbing her, just regular maintenance

I've had her for a about 6 months now. No mites, she looks perfectly fine. Temps good, a few times I came home from work and the house got warmer than expected so it was high 80s...almost 90. So I would shut one light off and let it cool off some.

I'll leave her in there overnight with the rat. Only thing she has in there is a log, no hides though. She has a heat light on now. And there is no bedding or anything either, cause the first time I fed her she ingested some.

She's always eaten each week fine, i'm just a bit concerned.

Get a device to regulate the temperatures for you, so you dont need to activly look at the tems all the time.

Feed the snake from a plate so he wont ingest anything.

Yep, she ate it!

My gf thought maybe she would eat if I put her in her enclosure and just got a larger dish to put the mouse in so it didn't go into the substrate. I did that and just came back upstairs a couple hours later and it is gone. She is curled up in her coconut peaking out at me. I guess she just wanted to eat it in peace.

I'll feed her in her cage from now on until she gets larger. I'm a happy camper now!

you should always feed them in plates so they don't ingest substrate.

I always do, just that time she wrapped around it and part of the rat came off the plate.

Not much you can do if they pull the food items off of the plate, maby pull substrate away from the plate?

I wish she would just eat....

ideally for a jungle its hot end temps should be 86f to 88f

cool end high 70's to low 80's f

do you have a thermostat on your heat source mate ?

i would give her a couple of hides,branches and a few fake plants to make her feel more secure

i feed all my carpets in their tanks but i use newspaper as substrate to avoid them injesting anything other than the food

I keep my carpets around 85df as well, they need a hide for sure, they will feel alot better if you give them a hide, remember they wont know their new house was your old shoe box... more than one spot is best, but my snakes just get one.

Guys her feed tank has no substrate. Her actual enclosure has bedding, vines, hides..the works! Normal temps are around 88. I have a temp gun and digital temp gauges. A thermostat is a good idea. Thanks

I think most of us was suggesting leaving the food in her tank overnight...

Feed in tank, much easier, if it wont tease feed leave the prey on a plastic plate right under where you notice it perching most often.
