Shipping snakes

Where I live there aren't many pet shops, and none that have what I'm looking for.
So here's the question: I know this weekend its going to be in the 40s for a high, and since its Wisconsin its only going to get colder from there. Is it safe (for the snake) to ship a snake this time of the year? Or am I going to have to wait until spring to get my snake?

Snakes are shipped in insulated boxes with heat or cold packs (depending on temps). If you're planning on getting one mail order. A lot of places only guarantee live delivery within a certain temperature range, however.

Watch your forecasts, a reputable seller should inquire about the weather and set up a ship date with you. As long as the temperature is above freezing, you should be fine. When in doubt, have the package held at the fedex/ups sorting facility and pick it up yourself, so it doesn't ride around in the back of an unheated truck all day.

I have shipped and received snakes all times of year.

With proper packing, and proper overnight - express AM delivery, things have always worked out just fine.

A long as they know how to pack it right and use heat packs. My diamond x jungle carpet was shipped last Feb. in 40 degree weather from Cal. and it was just find. When i open it was nice and warm. I put a digital thermometer in the box and closed it after 5 minutes it was up to 82 degrees. I have gotten all but one snake online and had shipped and never had a problem.(knock on wood)

I was just thinking about it, and the numbers of snakes I have shipped and received is in the hundreds. I never really gave it a thought until just now.
