Just got 2 beautiful jungles
Hello to everyone out there, my name is Chris and I just recently purchased 2 juvenile jungle carpet pythons. They are each about 20 inches long, but they look nothing like each other. They are both female as well. I have them set up in a beautiful vivarium and they are really taking advantage of whats in there. I purchased them at a pretty well established reptile store in southern california. I have a few questions-
Can they live together? They told me that its no problem to house them together because they are starting young. Right now they coil up together on a branch to form 1 large ball. Its really amazing. I am reading online that it could be a disaster to keep them together, so I am a lil confused. I want to make sure they stay happy and healthy.
During the day I use a blue bulb lamp for heat and a UV bulb for the plants. I got all the plants and substrates from the petstore. Can I use a nocturnal red heat lamp during the night? I am using that right now, and I hope this is ok.
I really appreciate your help, and I am excited to be on here. Thanks for all your help, I will post pics of my babies and the vivarium tomorrow. Go LAKERS!

Re: Just got 2 beautiful jungles
Hey and welcome to the forum, i know nothing about the snakes you have but i have two male corns housed together that are happy and healthy - eating and shedding with no issues. Through hours and hours (and hours and hours etc etc ) of research on the net for Corns i would say it came up 60% saying dont do it and 40% saying that generally its not an issue as long as you are CERTAIN that they are the same sex.
My advice would be listen and read the maximum amount you possibly can but in the end make a decision that YOU are happy with. I reconciled myself with the fact taht my two MAY fight and that there is a possibility of cannabilism but that i spend around 20 hours a day in the same room as the snakes and hope i can catch any issues before they go too far.
Good luck

Hey Rob, I appreciate your input. Wish I had that much time around them. Cannabilism huh, that wouldn't be fun. Thanks again

Re: Just got 2 beautiful jungles
Not really sure about the whole keeping them together. But the red bulb is great. I use one right now. I am hoping though to build a enclouser that I really don't need light but UVB. But yes red lights are fine. Jungles are amazing snake I have one and she is a sweetheart. I really cant wait to see yours! Welcome to the forum. I hope to see you around!

Re: Just got 2 beautiful jungles
Thanks Hill, I will def post them up tomorrow. Well that's 1 down as far as the lighting is concerned. Anyone out there got some advice for me? I got 2 females that I bought together, do I need to seperate them this early? They really seem to enjoy each other, they are constantly intertwined. They are about 4-6 months old. Thank you again

Re: Just got 2 beautiful jungles
There are a few other threads on the forum already if you just do a search you can find them. The short answer to "do I need to separate them?" is yes.

Re: Just got 2 beautiful jungles
Hello and Welcome. Jungles are some really cool snake. Carpets IMO are the coolest snake to own. You should never keep males together as they will fight sometimes. For a short time you should be ok , but i would get another set up ready and separate as soon as possible. Keeping them together if one gets sick the other will get sick. There's always the chance of them eating each other. Hope this helps and can't wait to see some pics.

Re: Just got 2 beautiful jungles
I would separate them, as what can look like them enjoying each other to us, is actually subtle competition for the same spot and resources. I would be setting up another enclosure so you can separate them. Only keep snakes together that are actively breeding.
