Talking Since we're on the subject of Hydros....DUW...

Here are some pictures of my two hydros. Dune, the male, is a super hypo and Oceana the female is hypo. Both snakes are nearly 7 ft. and I can't wait to pair this proven duo up in December. These two are favorites in my collection.

Awesome! Do you freehandle them? I have a yearling male normal FWC and he's just such a cool little guy. He's only about 2 feet so far, but he's so alert and hoods quite nicely, but he's quite handleable.

Once I get them out with the hook, I generally can free handle them. Usually I assess their mood once I get them out. They are pretty cool snakes and being so big bodied make them nice substantial snakes. The male will hood, the female rarely does. She's much mellower than he is, although he's never attempted to bite.

Nice looking animals. I used to free handle mine all the time. Never needed a hook for them. I made the mistake of selling them years back. If anyone happens to know where I can find high yellow/gold hydro's please let me know!

I use the hook getting them out. Most likely they wouldn't do anything, but until I'm sure they aren't in feed mode, I prefer to treat them with caution. The female put the respect on me the other night when she went after everything in sight. Once she was fed, she's back to her normal sweet self.

Some of them can become down right puppies...I have pictures somewhere of an adult female around 6ft that would stay coiled around my neck while I cleaned cages.

Thought I may add, these are NOT considered venomous in the state of FL.

I've noticed they aren't sold in the venomous sections of shows either, at least not in PA. They're sold right alongside boids and non-ven colubrids. I love mine- maybe someday I will get him a gf and breed them. Meg- the colors in yours are stunning- I especially love Dune!

Yeah, Dune is the super hypo. He is pretty! The female is much mellower though so I like her for her "loving" nature I'm looking forward to breeding them in December. You can get a baby! They usually produce hypos and super hypos.

Maybe I will! I also really want one of your snail-eating snakes if they breed.
