heterozygous

what does this mean? if i have a het albino male, what needs to be done to produce albino offspring?

heterozygous means that an animal carries a gene for a certain trait but that trait is not expressed in the animal. for example your het albino male has the genes to create albinos, however he is normal looking in appearance. in order to get albinos from the first breeding you would have to pair your het albino male with either an albino female or a het albino female. if you paired him with an albino female you would get 50% het albinos and 50% albinos. if you paired him with a het albino female you would get 25% normals,50% het albinos, and 25% albinos. hope this helps
