suggestions???

I have a ball python and a red tailed boa. I think I want to look for a bigger snake. However I don't want it to be too big. Also I wantone that isn't TOO challenging to take care of. I got my first bite today and I still love snakes, but I need a breed that isn't too nippy as well. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? thanks

Look into the different carpet python species, or rainbow boas. They get to a good size and arnt extremely hard to care for, however be prepaired to take a few bites because they can be kind of nippy as hatchlings. Blood pythons may be another choice, but they can be a bit challenging too.

I know they tend to be smaller, but what about green tree pythons? I'm interested in them, and I've done a little research. Does anyone have any experience with them?

i dont have any experience with them but GTP are known to be nippy even as adults and they are fairly challenging to keep as far as husbandry goes. they are more of a display snake that shouldnt be handled frequently.

you said you already have a red tail. how long is it now? if its an adult and you still want a larger snake, i would throw in my vote for a MALE burmese python. they will grow to be 10'-14' and are known for being extremely docile snakes. if your red tail is not yet an adult, you may want to wait until it is and then make your decision as to whether you still want a larger snake or not. hope this helps

I'd suggest not getting anything bigger than your Boa for now. You are young & likely living with your parents still. You have to take into consideration that this larger Boid will be with you for the next 20+ years & will require a rather large enclosure. You will have to be able to keep it where you move to from your parents. If any secondary education is in order you will be likely living in a small dorm or apartment where snakes will not be allowed. "Starving students" is also a popular saying as most don't have any extra cash to house & care for such a large animal due to all their funds going to ther education. Hate to come across negative but many young adults get large Boids only to find they have to sell them due to living restrictions for schooling etc. Remember pets are a lifetime commitment. Mark

They are not kidding when they say dont go any bigger for now. I have 5 berms and the have a full bedroom to themselves. A redtail is as big as i would go for now. Also it may be your first bite but dealing with snaked count on getting bit again.
