Exclamation I got a baby! !!!

But I didn't realize how fragile a newborn would look! I have had a few from 2weeks old, but this is my first newborn and I am a nervous caretaker, what do I do for immediate care? When and what do they eat, besides pinheads, can they have baby food? should I keep them in the container of vermiculite with their eggshell for a day or so?

CONGRATS!

Congratulations on the new baby!

He/she will probably start eating 2-3 days after hatching, but some will eat almost out of the egg. I would say for sure after the first shed.

Good luck!

Congrats. Keep doing what you are doing. I would just add some more objects for your new baby to climb and hide. I usually leave some CGD in the enclosure after the second day. A few days after I try to offer some crix.
Best of luck!

get yourself a small fake plant or some vines something so he can atleast feel like hes hiding, CGD is a good idea to start with then introduce him to pinheads

He's so cute The can win anyone over just by looking at them - eye contact is guaranteed to turn us to mush.
Congrats on the new kid in the house.

Maybe it's my eyes playing tricks but it looks like there's an awful lot of moisture in there. If I'm wrong, sorry, just skip this part. If the towel is as wet as it looks in the picture, I'd let it dry to just barely damp. Too much moisture can grow fungus and mildew, possibly dangerous. I also agree that he needs some climbing apparatus. Silk vines work great for babies. They can hide in the leaves and climb up, something they expect to be able to do.

Thumbs up

thanks for the advice, I had just sprayed the critter keeper, the towel is barely damp. I have a 5g tank to set him up in but was gonna give him a day or two to see how he does with catching his prey. he's an alert little guy and busy checking out everything. Hope his clutchmate soon arrives, the egg has gotten bigger the last couple days but in comparison to the one that hatched, it seems to be several days behind. I have read that they are normally within a day, no more than two days apart but we shall see on this one. I posted a pic of these eggs back in april, they were originally "deflated" and I nearly got rid of them. thanks to advice from you back then I gave them a chance.

I've had cresties from the same clutch hatch 4 or 5 days apart without any problem. The record for me is 15 days apart and both were healthy.
