rubbermaids are great
well my jungle was getting a little to big for his shoebox, so i made him a bigger cage yesterday. he now resides in a 50 qt rubbermaid. the whole setup cost under $15. can't beat that. whoever says they dont make good display cages, well its not as nice as the other plastic cages, but looks pretty good to me.

Great set up! My only suggestion is to get rid of those stick on thermometres. They can be highly unreliable with unaccurate readings. On top of that, there is the risk that the adhesive portion of the thermometre could made contact with your snake, tearing off scales leading to a possible infection - overall just not worth the risk. I would suggest acquiring a digital thermometre, they are reliable and inexpensive, and can be found at your local hardware store.

thanks all.
zero - i got everything at lowes, any hardware store should have all the stuff needed.
peterm15 - the dowels are screwed in through the sides and are easily removable
the gino - i have never had a problem with those thermometers falling off. i do have a digital thermometer, just not using it and i also have an infared thermometer that i use to check different spots of the cage. thanks for your concerns though.

Nick, awesome setup, makes a good display indeed, especially with the flouresent lighting on the top.
Beautiful animal aswell..lots of yellow, he'll be nice and vibrant when he gets older (not that he isnt already).

I am using the same ones to house 5 of mine, except that I am heating them with heating pads. You may want use some "S" hooks along the side as the snakes CAN escape.
Cheers

snakeeyes & youngbuck - thank you
asphyxia - the cage is heated with a heat pad. and what are these "S" hooks your talking about? the sides do pull up a little bit, not very much though. he is not big enough yet to lift them up enough to get out. but im sure in a few months he could be. thanks for lookin out i'd hate to go searching for him around the room. his old rubbermaid had latches on it, so it would have been impossible for him to get out and i didnt even really think about it on this one since he never really explores the top.

Hey
I use "bulldog" clips on the side of my rubbermaid and they hold it closed pretty well. I know what you are saying about the containers. You can see my rubbermaid enclosure in the post "IJ pics and a crappy question" in this forum.
Rubbermaids rock!

"S" hooks are pretty much self explanitory, they are "S" shaped rods of metal and how i used them to secure a lid was drill a hole through the lid and the main part of the rubbermaid and fit the S hook through so that the top of the "S" was in the hole, keeping the lid on tight.

i got my ijcp a larger rubbermaid. looks be be about the same size, i dont have teh sticker anymore. I bought an adjustable shower curtain rod and put it in lengthwise, that way i didnt have to do anything to the container..i jus thave a couple sheets of toilet paper folded into a small square to make the rod fit more snugly against the sides.
i just have a bungy running aroud the side of the tank to make sure he cant put pressure on the side where there aren't clips.
