Not if you're only lending a male of equal or lesser value than the female and the other breeder is doing the breeding and incubating. Also, all the risk is placed on the other breeder's animal.
In your case, I would say you should be entitled to maybe a trio of babies. Why only that many? The other breeder could probably spend less than $200 and get a breeder male right now and not use yours at all. So, a trio is good because that is about what your male's services are worth to the breeder with the female.
I know if it were between borrowing your male and giving you $600 worth of hatchlings (a rough estimate) or buying my own for $200 and keeping all $1200 worth of babies, it wouldn't take me long to do the math.
If your male was more valuable than the female, I would give you the appropriate compensation in return. For instance, if you were talking about ball pythons and I wanted to borrow your albino male to breed to my het female, you would be entitled to ½ of the babies, more or less depending on what hatched out.
It’s always good to work out all the scenarios ahead of time and make sure you both feel comfortable before doing any breeding loans. It gets tough to decide how to divide things up once the babies come out a greed rears it’s ugly head!
Good luck with the loan!
