I made mine out of malimine wood, mesh and pexi glass. It measures 4 feet long by 2 feet wide and 15 inches tall and only cost around $50! I use mulchy/wood chip bedding and have a bit rubbermaid so she can go swimming if she feels like it. I'm going to be make some taller ones when i get my new room so they they can climb ( will be making one for my male corn too).
I'd really recomend making your own, it gives you alot more freedom and saves your wallet.
Sorry its not the greatest pic...
Cheers
Kayla

I just use rubbermaids for my corns. Drill or solder some holes for ventilation and they are all set. It's very easy to do and it's not time consuming. Preferably the snake will need two hides. One for the warm and another for the cool side. I am sure you know this already with the research you have done. For substrate, I switched from aspen and started to use newspaper. I find that it's a lot faster to clean and it is free so you don't have to worry about buying it. I find it works just as well as aspen too (but thats IMO).
If you really want it to look nice though and have the enclosure setup more as a display cage then by all means build your own. Newspaper doesn't look that great either, aspen looks way better. But in the end the snake is not going to care how aesthetically pleasing it is.

I'll get some pics of the enclosure tonight when I take pictures of my new Ball Python when she gets here
Mine looks basicly like the rubbermaid above, just bigger, a bigger water dish, and aspen.

These are of my kings tank but they can have basically the same setup.
In this picture he is in the top left on his branch.
You can't see him in this picture very well but he is still on his branch. I am just trying to show a different view of his tank. This pic is not as good as the first one.
This is just a picture of him on his branch, he is very intimidated by my camera. (I would be too if something that big came after me.)
Asian Jon, how do you heat your rubbermaids? I want to convert but I am not exactly sure how to heat it. Thanks in advance.

thank you guys, i never realized that a snake could live in a rubbermaid enclosure...although i do have a few questions...what about air holes, where should they be placed on the sides or on the top or on both? Also can snakes have live plants i ntheir cage, if so what types? prob the same as my beadie but i want to be safe.

I find if you put the holes in the side, but at the top, it helps keep alot of the heat in (heat rises). As for live plants, it's probably okay for really small snakes but anything with a bit of weight to it will destroy the plants in no time. Hope this helps some.

I will most likely just go with fake plants, but i guess i mthinking of my veiled cham and my bearded dragons that will lick the plants to get water ifthey dont want water from their dish. Snakes i guess do good with a dish so ill go with fake plants and ill try doign the holes at the top on the sides if i go with a rubber enclosure instead of glass, since my veiled and my eardies are in rubber enclosures ill just add a new addition and a different cariety of enclosure to my pet shop thats in my room lol j/k
