useing an ultrasonic mister

I have recently thought about using an ultrasonic mister to keep the humidity up in my 40 gallon cage. What do you guys think about this? Has anyone done it and if so what might be some of the problems that I might run into. I am at college at Kansas State and so I need a way to keep the humidity up when I go back home to work over the weekends. I think that this may do the trick. What are your thoughts?

I used this for Uroplatus geckos and it worked extremely well. The problems with it are:
1) You need a "pool" of water in the enclosure (ie: drowning, space waste)
2) The device doesn't seem to work very long, even with replacement membranes.

I don't know if all of the foggers go bad after a while or if I was unlucky but for the price, I think it's a pretty good item to have if you are using it for weekends. Just keep the pool of water covered. I used egg crate.

I've also seen it done with a room humidifier by connecting some pvc piping to the output area of the humidifier and running it to the top of the cage. That way you can have it on a timer, it has a much larger water resevoir so it will last longer while you're away and there is no danger of deep water inside the cage.

Foggers also leave the enclosure dripping wet...at least thats my experience with them.

Te foggers can work great but heres a couple of hints or tips to make them work even better for you.
1: put them on a timer or if inclined hard wire them to a humidistat so you can control te level of humidity to whatever your heart desires.
2: Do not use your municipal tap water as a water source for your fogger. All the metals, calcium etc... in your water source will be left behind on the diaphragm and this is what destroys it. Use bottle steam distilled or Reverse osmosis water for this unit only and it should run flawlessly for years.
