i have a female that just layed for the third time and again the eggs are definately not promising. she laid her first egg last august and it was deformed. in september she laid 2 eggs, one was caved and the other appeared perfect but never hatched. she just now laid another clutch, one is caved and one is actually like folded over and pointed at one end. could it be a calciun deficiency? she gets calcium a couple times a week and doesn't appear to have any physical problems. this pair has been together nearly a year and get along very well, there should be lots of babies.
Sometimes one of my females lays eggs but I can't find where she laid them. When I do finally find them after a couple of days, they look like those eggs. Is there any chance she might have laid them a few days before you found them and they've just dried out? Have you opened the shell to see if there's any yolk inside, seems to me they look empty.
she definately just laid them in the last 24hrs, and didn't even try to bury them, they layed on top just as I photographed them. I knew she was about to lay as she was digging the last couple nights.

has anyone ever seen anything hatch from a deformed egg? i seriously doubt that anything could possibly come from these eggs, but was curious if any less than perfect shaped eggs have ever hatched.

This is caused by one of 2 things...the eggs are not fertilized ( male crestie shooting blanks?) and/ or shifts in humidity. eggs have to have the right humidity...if the eggs go from the nice moist mama body into a drier atmosphere there will be problems like this

My girl layed 2 eggs that looked like that and they are growing fine. Not hatched yet but it's only been about a month and a half. But they are growing and rounded out nicely. I don't know why they did it but they seem fine now. And my tank is good for humidity, so who knows?? Try incubating anyway maybe they'll turn out??
