Jamaica Report
Hows it going all? merry christmas hope you are all doing well. Just letting you guys know whats going on here. Heather rose stopped by yesterday for a visit. i went to take her to a croc farm, but they still hadn't got their selves together from hurrican ivan and they were closed. so all we really ended up doing was going for lunch and dropping her off at the ship (sorry heather) lol.
Today i sorted out some things for a project i have wanted to start for a while. as some of you may know. jamaican boas are facing a really bad future, due to SOME habitat loss and mainly the mongoose (introduced) killing off the snakes and people killing the snakes. some people think the snakes are gone, but the truth is there is about 300-500 left in the west end of jamaica. people are starting to relize that the snakes are not bad creatures and that they actually are good for the country. I have a friend in black river jamaica who owns a crocodile safari. you go there and look at crocs by boat. he has agree'd to take care of the snakes as long as i pay for the cage food and what ever expences. so i am heading out thursday or friday to build the cage, (photo's will be posted) and by next week some time the snakes SHOULD be ready for me to pick up and the little project will begin (pics will be posted as well). If anyone comes to jamaica from this forum or if you live in jamaica, you can check these snakes out. go to Black river and than ask anyone on the side of the road there where "Irie Safari" is. you can also take the tour if you want to see any wild C. acutus
Anyways i have 30 seconds left on this crappy internet cafe' so i dont want this to be erased.
Take care
Happy New year
Jordan Milgrom.
(please excuse all the bad spelling and such... i had to type this fast!)

I know this is a bit late, but I just got back :P
Even though the only herp (I saw tons of other wild life/sea creatures though) I saw on my trip were iguanas, I still had a blast driving around the island with Jordan...that lunch was AWESOME too
Pictures to come...

I had a biz dealings with a good friend of mine in Jamaica, Ross Kanunga, who owned a croc farm in Falmouth (near Montego bay). I lived there for 6 months. Sadly, Ross crashed his duel prop into the swamps and was eaten by his own crocs(for real). I know his croc farm was still operating up until 10 yrs ago. If you get a chance to go to the north end of the island it is a fun trip..The farm was where they shot "Live and Let Die" 007 movie. Ross tripped and took 89 stitches while jumping from the little croc-feed island in the movie so he did it again..take 2 ..the next day and was successful. Anyways, they always had an abundant snake populations there at the farm.
