I've been boycottng these infernal stations for a few years now. I take everything that comes from American news channels (and Canadian ones as well) with a grain of salt.

As I've said before, Foxnews is evil.

Now that's funny. Let's be honest though...that show really has nothing to offer to anyone left or right. It's all about brow-beating and vocal volume. The parts of the transcript not dealing with Canada are just as idiotic. I dont know why it even airs on a "news" network.

Double J, thanks for posting that link. I read over the transcript myself and i am appauled at what was said on that show.
"I submit that those protests arise out of self-hatred, Canadians frustrated with the derivative nature of Canadian culture."
"Canada essentially -- essentially a made-in-Taiwan version of the United States. "

It seriously makes me think sometimes what is really going on in the media. Things like this should not be said against nations with such familiar ties. Making a mockery out of Canada for years even before 9/11, and its just getting out of control. Its almost a false sense of security that it seems America is portraying. Its sad when a country and half of the world decides that they dont believe in a war such as in Iraq and the only defense that is put up to this objection, is to try to make cracks at those countries who dont believe in injustice.
I for sure believe that this type of slander towards a country on a news program that is trying to be legitimate is a complete farce. CNN is slowly becoming FOX in its programming. But it is not just this station alone. Media sources are becoming rediculous in the way they can create whatever story they want.
If any would like to watch a cool documentary on the media situation in the United States to help form their own opinions I suggest watching a short film called, "Rich Media, Poor Democracy." by Robert McChesney. Its a great film that shows how the Communications Act of 1996 by the United States is destroying the freedom of press.

CNN is actually primarily a liberal station. FOX News is more right. I fail to see how conservativism comes into play other than just a chance for you to complain about the current administration.

All media is right wing, they just address events in a center right vs far right view thus creating an illusion that a liberal view exists. A great film to watch concerning this is called The Myth of the Liberal Media.

All forms of media is propoganda. News has a point of view and a goal. And to think of news as being objective source of information is wrong. There is a reason why the public is exposed to certain images and stories.

You are making blanket statements and presenting them as fact when they are your opinion. I find it ammusing that you consider it to be propaganda rather than news. Most stories are presented as accounts of events. It is primarily only political stories that may be slanted one way or the other. And much of political slant comes from differing interpretations. I have a feeling that a great deal of the material you find offensive comes from those being interviewed rather than the reporters themselves. I do agree that the comments about Canada made were out of line.

BWSmith, this is why I recommend that people should watch this moive as it goes into great depth with examples of how media is given its shape by advertisors, media owners, sourcing and flak. If you like I can send you an essay I wrote recently on this subject, perhaps you can see where im coming from.
