yellow IJCP's ?
Hey everyone I was just wondering what sort of variations people are dealing with. Most Irian Jaya Carpets i see are stunning animals but lack the bright yellows of jungles. I recently purchased a 4-year-old female who has allot of yellow. Is it more common then I realize??

Here are few pics to show what I mean, and just to give credit these pic's were taken by the previous owner, Not myself, I need a new camera to take some myself. But these ones are pretty good. Let me know what you think.

Looks a lot more like a Jungle than IJ. I've been told that a lot of the Jungles out there are not pure Jungles anyway and that the pure ones are not that naturally bright and yellow. I know that the yellow can be selectively bred for but I'm told a true pure blood jungle is not all that attractive. Before Jungle fans start jumping all over me let me just say that I'm just sharing some details from a conversation I had with a breeder. So I'm only sharing what was told to me. So don't go asking me to quote a scientific journal or a web page or anything like that.lol
Cheers,
Trevor

I thought in a few pics she looks like a JCP, but she is a IJCP, you can tell when looking at her in person, although it can be hard to prove genetics of any animals. It's always possible somebody crossed her bloodline way back when, hence the common hybrid debate.

Jeff's carpets are selectively bred to be the nicest though can be. Even the purest ugliest Jungles can be selectively bred to bring out their yellow. Don't forget that this stuff doesn't happen over night. Roy Stockwell has been selectively breeding is KSB to increase their orange pigment since 1985 or 86. Does that mean that they aren't pure Kenyan? Of course not. Jeff's and others have very yellow carpets due to selective breeding. Does that mean that they aren't pure carpets? Nope.
Read my post again. All I said was that someone reputable told me that pure carpets aren't that yellow naturally. Not that all yellow carpets are mutts.
