Mine was a green anole named, 'sammy', that I had over twenty years ago.
wow--that makes me feel old.
This little guy loved the yellow curtains in my room and actually ended up living there. I used to catch daddy-long legs and set them and sammy on a table and watch him scramble to catch them.

my first personal was my albino king four years ago who is now a monster. But as a kid it would have to be a green anole. Which were all of us kids.

My first would have been a red-ear slider when I was a kid, but the one that got me back into herps was definitely my sweet female panther, Carmen, 4 years ago.

Hmm, well I have had a pair of res since I was 5; the male is still with me the original female passed away. My first purchased herp was a leopard gecko from a pet store that cost to much died right away (was sick when I bought it) one year later after a lot of research and with the thought to avoid pet shops I picked up my first snake, a 3 year old female ball, I still have her today (7 years later) , she is what I consider my first real herp as the gecko died so quickly, there is actually a post in the ball python form that just went up about her with some pick’s , Its looking like my first ball was a good pick.

Amelanistic Corn snake was MY first herp.......my younger brother tried anoles and had an Iguana when we were kids and he was the reptile freak, now I'm the one who gets the comments about being weird.

Green anoles, in 1984. Christmas present from my parents.
First ones I bought myself- corn snakes, around '94, one of which we still have.
