Pics of the sick BCI... 2nd attempt

Here are a couple of pics of the wee BCI I've been writing about. As thin as he/she appears here, this is a VAST improvement over what she got to at the height of her illness. Guys, take care of your herps - keep them clean and warm. I may have only paid a tad over $40 US for the snake, but I've dropped near $200 on vet bills to get her well. It could have been avoided had the breeder taken more interest in the snakes than in the cash.
Anhoo.... This first pic is her threatening the camera. Got too close! This is the first time I've seen her eyes look milky like that in a photo...

This is a better overall shot of her on my hand...

She/he is slightly over 201/2 inches long and weighs in at 39 grams. Named 'Midgard'.o>

Glad it's doing better for you. Some breeders out there *shakes head* shameful.

Still no guarantees, guys.
This was one REALLY SICK snake. The infection is pretty much beat, (I'm taking her for the last Fortaz shot in a few minutes.), but she's lost so much weight...

I'm trying NOT to get too hopeful. I'll just keep working at making sure she has what she needs. The rest is really up to her and her survival instinct. This snake is going to need to eat often to make up what she's lost. I also wonder if perhaps she's not so much dehydrated as just hanging in her own skin from the weight loss. She drinks regularly and soaks occasionally. There is an electrolyte suppliment in her water as well.

Your thoughts?

Ok. Back from the vet - with some news! The snake *finally* seemed strong enough for the vet to take a stool sample. They were so worried about her fragile condition that they didn't dare 'squeeze' her before and we had not been able to collect a usable sample at home. (She's had only two BMs...) Anyhoo, got the Fortaz injection and the stool shows Flagalated(sp?) parasites in her gut. Lots of them.

Well, that explains why she's never gained any real weight!

Doc said it wasn't our fault, blamed this on the breeder as well. He gave her several more saline injections under the skin and de-wormed her for the second time. They will also be doing a 'float', whatever that is...

I'm kinda glad to hear about the parasites since it is something we can fight AND explains why she's not gained weight.
