question

I heard that Mojaves are the key to producing Lusistic Balls. Could someone please explain how this is possible. I know how to produce Snow Balls, but not Lusistics.

Morph King produced a couple Blue Eyed Leucy's from a Lesser Platinum x Mojave breeding. It's been argued that the Leucistic is the "super" form of Mojave's (and Lessers, Phantoms).

Personally, I think it all stems form the Lesser Platinum lineage which is just a big confusing ball of wax at this point. Honestly, I could be several years before we are any closer to having it all figured out........Ralph's got the most intriguing genetic project going on, I tell ya

Fun stuff!

um alright this is some tricky genetics so get out your thinking caps. First you need to start out with a Simple Female Ball python regular or not does not matter now heres the genetic secret so hold on...the formula is....

white spray paint X ball python in shed

Jk guys that deep into genetics flys right over my head

Yes and no.

Leucy's have been produced by several breeders. Vin Russo, Ralph Davis and Morh King produced blue-eyed leucys and Eric Davies in Great Britian produced black eyed leucys.

Vin did it by breeding 2 normal looking balls. They are neither Mojave or Lesser Platties. He claims, and I have no reason to doubt him, that they are co-dom and the leucy is the Super version.

Ralph produced them by breeding Lesser X Lesser and Lesser X Phantom (who some people speculate is a Mojave, but I don't think so) and I believe he also produced BE Leucy's by breeding Platinum X Lesser, but I could be wrong on that one. Corey would know better.

Morph King produced BE leucy's by breeding Lesser X Mojave.

Then their are the black-eyed Leucy's produced by Eric Davies. They were produced by breeding 2 normals that are now labeled as Fireballs (by Bob Clark). Again they are thought of as being co-dom.

All this is speculative at best and I think we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Leucy's.

Pete call also has a black-eyed leucy and he has yet, to best of my knowledge been able to produce any after several clutches.

Hope this helps answer your question.
