Gestation in emerald tree boas is quite long. Females are gravid for approximately 7 months during which they seldom will feed but will bask. Make sure that females are provided areas to bask if they choose to do so. Temperatures underneath the basking spot should reach the mid or upper-90°F's. Always make certain females are provided adequate humidity levels and drinking water via misting in order to insure the birth of healthy young.
Not sure how much they lose, but because their gestation is so long it is recommended to breed females after they are 4 or 5 years of age and of excellent body weight. Otherwise you're looking at a bunch of slugs and possibly a dead female.

I would have to disagree somewhat, some, not all females will refuse food during gestation. My female ate smaller meals right up till a week or so before she had her babies. The gestation can be V E R Y L O N G and always makes me second guess myself wether or not she was gravid at all despite the swollen appearance. Between seven and nine months I guess. Ah but the reward for your patience is immeasureable they are such awesome babies!! I still have three left from earlier this year, I just can't bear to part with them this time!
