whats the deal with the # system in herps??

I see this a lot but never in Green Tree Pythons (my specialty) so I have no idea what it means..

I see people list their collections with a 1.0 snake or a .8 bearded dragon, or a 3.3 snake, etc....

What ARE those numbers???

Thanks!!

They are a sex ratio. Say you see 2.3 That means there are 2 males and 3 females. If you have 2.3.1 That means 2 male 3 females and 1 unsexed. See, the males are on the left side of the period and females are on the right. If you have an unsexed animal it would go to the right of the females, separated by another added period. Hope this made sense, thanks.

Dan.

the numbers mean male , female, unknown sex. example 1.1.1 gtp's would be one male, one female, and one unknown sex

Ok.. so it simply dictates the number of animals you have and their sexes??

I get it.. i thought it had something to do with geniology / breeding or something..

Cool!!! Thanks!!!

GTPs arn't usually sexed till about a year, give or take, thats why they don't have the usual 1.1.1 stuff.
