please god tell me theres some kind of action i could take against someone stabbing a 8 foot burms head into a wooden floor... please if anyone has any info about **** like that in toronto, canada.. please, please please tell me this is sick.. its the most discusting, inhuman thing i ever seen.. let me know, please .. marc..

alright heres the story.. me and my buddy went out to the bar.. hes had a 8 food male burm.. well his roomates decided to **** with it and it coiled around his ancle.. so he decided to ram a steak knife though its head. when we went to his house i almost vomited.. its really unfortunate because there were a few people in the house and they probably could have got it uncoiled if they didnt "freak out"

Thats absolutely horribe. Calling the cops is a good idea since its animal cruelty. Only problem is that if the burm isnt legal in the area where he lives it may be hard to go about it with the law. But if it is id press charges cuz thats absolutely rediculous.....

I would say the killing is justifiable by law since the killer was supposedly being attacked and may have feared for his life

anyways, isn't it common sense to keep large snakes under lock and key?

I would definitely ask the friend that killed the snake to purchase a new one for your friend, although there is no way to replace a pet, especially since I'm sure he had the snake for a while since it was 8'...and if he does get a new one, lock and key and educating the other friends about proper safety and protocol is a must

remember when being attacked your first thought is not always the most humane way to end the attack

heh tell ur friend to get a rattle snake he wount dare pick it up since it will bite him and tell ur friend to bring his anti venom with him so his friend can learn his lesson

Wow, thats a disgusting story about snake misunderstanding. If the guy knew what the snake was doing and that he could get if off without killing it, none of this would ever have happened. Thats also another PRETTY GOOD REASON WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER SELL A BURMESE PYTHON TO A NEWBIE = DANGER FOR THE SNAKE AND THE OWNER!!!

This would have never happened if his roomates had left the animal alone... this incident is not justifiable.

thats the thing though hes not a newbie.. he has been keeping burms and retics for a good 5 years now.. his roomates were told not to touch the animals unless he was around, they are around 22-23 years old so you think they would have listened..

That is really sad. I hope they are legal in your area, so your friend can get some sort of compensation. Small claims court would be an option.

I didn't read all of your replies, sorry, but I think it's horrible what happened to this animal. Someone mentioned that the 'killer' was justified because he was attacked... the snake was being provoked into an attack by the sound of the story to me...

My boyfriend and I have 'procedures' for what to do in an emergency with my burm. Although he's the most lovable snake in the world to me, I am prepared should he turn against me, my boyfriend or anyone else for that matter.

These procedures are posted on the wall of the room my snake is housed in, and on the door to his enclosure. I list SEVERAL steps to avoid killing the snake, which is the absolute LAST option listed. (It is listed because ultimately I would rather see the snake dead than a person, and I love my snake a lot more than most people, let me tell you!!) I even given detailed instructions on dispatching the animal in a humane way (wouldn't want my friend to suffer).

There are warning signs all over, so there's no confusion about what's inside the room and what it is capable of. In fact, it states plainly, that if an incident were to occur, that I, my boyfriend, and/or my landlord are not to be held liable for any damages caused by the snake... entering the room waives these rights, and it states that as well. Not only that, but it is always fully explained by me to anyone entering the room.

I am so sorry to hear about this incident. It's unfortunate that this animal is now dead because of some foolish idiot. I would certainly EXPECT and request a replacement, but nothing can ever heal the hurt of losing something you love. Please keep us updated on this story... Best of Wishes...
