a few questions.

i am going to pick up two albino geckos next week and i still have a few questions:
1.) I have a reptiglow 20W daylight bulb is this going to be ok for my albinos?
2.) The hot side of the tank is 33-34 OC and the cool side 26-27 and the humidity is 40-50% is this all ok?
3.) I have a humid hide and it is full of paper towels moistended and it is on the hot side, is it on the wrong side? how humid should it be in the hide?
4.) Should i just use tap water for them to drink?
5.) How many crikets should an adult gecko eat every other day?

Your set up sounds fine. The humid hide should be in the middle of the enclosure, with a normal hide on the cool side. What are you using to heat the tank? Tap water is fine. Try giving them 6-7 crickets each and if they eat them all you can add a few more until they aren't hungry anymore. Be sure to give them a shallow dish of calcium too

What about the humidity? It is a little high. The humid hide can be as humid as you can get it but the ambeint humidity should be about 20%

How do you get the humidity that low??!!
I know the obvious suggestion would be a dehumidifier, but I think 10 or 20% humidity would make for a pretty dry apartment and since my veiled is in a screened enclosure in the same room and requires about 50-60% humidity I don't think a dehumidifier would work out too well. Anyone know of any ways to decrease humidity just in the leo tank???

I prefer to let my geckos have culligan purified water. low humidity ofcoarse and personally a 40 watt bulb. but what size tank do you have what gallon? And dont just use crickets as food. try to get atleast mealworms too. If your thinking the 40 watt will hurt the albino's skin dont worry. Theyre skin arent more sensitive just eyes, which they will close.

Unless there's condensation forming on the walls inside the enclosure, you don't have to worry about the ambient humidity. Leos do fine in regular home range humidity. Having a heat source is guaranteed to lower the humidity in the enclosure anyways. Most humidity gauges sold in pet stores aren't accurate either, so yours could be way off. I never check the humidity, haven't in over 10 years, and none of my leos have complained about it, nor had health problems from it.

As long as the water coming out of your tap is fit for human consumption, you can use it for your geckos. In the wild they drink rain water, dew and condensation from their environment. I bet tap water is a lot cleaner.
