in a hypothetical situation, if a person only had 1 boa and had space for a cage that was, say, 5' tall, 6' wide' and 2' deep, do you think the boa would use the space or just sit on the ground?
I think it depends on the individual boa. I've seen some boas use a perch while other would not. At a near by zoo they have two Colombians together one is always climbing while the other just sits.
Cheers,
Trevor
My first boa cage was something like 4'L x 3'h x 2'd. In the cage was a good thick branch roughly about 6-8" off the floor, not to high, which I recommend. She actuallly used it often, but then soon stopped and never really used it again.
I do think it is a personal thought to add a climbing structure, as long as it is appropriate. Nothing to high off the groung as far as boids go. I do see that young boa will climb a lot more than adults do as well.
