unreceptive female :(

This gecko is a tough cookie to crack, my males been at it all night and she wont let him in

My friends at camp so he wanted me to babysit his normal leopard gecko. I can see its female so i figured i should make some hets. She doesnt seem to want to breed becuase everytime my male nips her to get into position she flips out.

How do you turn a refusing gecko the other way. Im trying to just leave them in their for a while, maybe she wants to get to know him first..or get some forplay in

We'll see...will she ever want to breed or is she just a unreceptive gecko forever?

Same thing here...

Same thing here...
I put my female in my males cage on Sunday, and watched them for the first 30 minutes. Whenever the male tryed to bite her neck she'd flip out and bite him right back. They did this 2 or 3 times, and finally calmed down. Now they're in the same hide, but I haven't seen any breeding as of today, so maybe they're doing it during the night.

I can't answer your question though.

Country:
How old is the female? If she'd much rather play with her Barbie dolls and thinks boys are icky, then she won't be giving in for a while.
Sometimes they just don't feel like getting mushy, it could be months still before they do.

Adam, am I reading this right? ... you're babysitting a female leo, and have decided to mate her? Is this okay with the owner of the female? Just thinking here, that's all,.... but if I asked someone to babysit my leo and he arranged for her to become gravid, I'd be a tad upset. Heck, I'd be very livid.

My female is around 2+ years old, so I don't think playing with dolls are on her agenda.

This female all her life has been pretty protective of herself. She used to be housed with another female that would "bother" her by biting, etc , so I separated them, and she's been alone for nearly 5 months. Could it be she stills feels "vulnerable."

Well this leopard used to be mine, and yes he knows and was reeeally excited since hes not really into reptiels at all, but i gave him this one as a present because i was runnin out of room a while ago.

As for the female being to young..my albino seems even a little bit smaller and shes layed 3 eggs already..so she cant be to small but she might still like easy bake ovens and just got over barbies

Ah well, not a big deal, just thought their could be a way to change her mind

Thanks for the reply and concern!
