i know the care sheets say it but it's easier to hear it from people.what and how should i feed my Dragon as a baby?

More meet then vege's...as they get older that reverses. Give them crickets, and all the worm varieties their are. You can give him a pinky every month if hes big enough. As for veggies, you can go with collards, romaine, danelion greens, and other dark greens...check out some caresheets for a list of veggies. Feed the veggies in a bowl and the crix just in his tank...if hes really a baby, try not to use sand as this could impact them..just use paper towl till he gets older.

Caresheet i receaved said feed him as much as he can eat in a 10 min sitting, my only question is just once a day?

And giving him pellets while he is small, agree/disagree?

How old is he?

I fed babies 2 times a day ( under 4months old ). As well as offer them salad daily ( but they seldom touch it ).

Not all worms are suitable. Stay away from mealworms and superworms as a baby.

Pinky mice are highly debatable by many dragon breeders/owners. I for one, do not give, nor will I ever, give my dragons pinkies.

Pellets are good to offer, make sure you soak em well first though. Just in water is fine. Otherwise they can dehydrate a baby quite quickly.

But generally bug feeding: appropriate sized crickets, 2 times daily, of approximately what he can eat in 10mins.

I cant figure out how old mine is, i just got him. Have no camara here so i cant size him up to a bill or somthing to scale him right. Hes about i presume... 4 inchs long?

I assume he's the one in your gallery?? The pic of him on your fingers, by that one, I would have to say he's similar of age to my babies which are 3-4wks old now. Depending on how large or small your hand is, he could be 2wks old. Here's some pics of my babies:

my finger from tip to joining the hand is 2.75".
from tip to where the dragons hips are is 1.75".
The baby in this pic hatched May 16.

Definately possible you have a very very young one.

You should be feeding the baby at least 2-4 times a day. For crickets, put some into the enclosure and if they are all eaten with a 5-10 min. period, put in some more. We feed veggies to our babies every other day in the morning. Put the veggies in first......wait at least 1/2 hour before you put crickets in. If you put crickets in first, they will not touch the veggies! (just like kids...give them a choice of veggies or candy, what are they going to choose?!)
That looks like one of our Sandfire Yellow x Normal babies. At shows, we take down the buyer's info and what they purchased and send them a copy of the certificate with the parents info, date hatched etc. If we somehow missed doing this for you, please e-mail me at info@iculizard.com with your name, phone number and e-mail address and we will get it right out to you. We do not sell our babies until they are six weeks old or 6 inches, whatever comes first.

I could not agree with you more, Megan. I always see people saying their bearded dragons will not eat vegetables while young. I have never had a young dragon refuse vegetables! Definitely feed the vegetables first, for the reason which Megans analogy described.

Yesterday i put in some carrots and romain lettice, choped them up put in a dish and in tank.

Left it in thier for awhile and he dident touch it, ran upto it after a few hours and looked around in it but then left. Hour later just as i was gonna take out and put in some crickets he decided to walk over and **** in it.

I thought at that point goodluck eating vegies lol.

Cleaned it out put in some crickets and he devoured them.

Today i diced up some collidgreens and some cucumber nice and diced, soon as i put in he ran over and started munching on the cucumber, must of downed atleast 7-8 peices before i got my webcam to record lol, but then i think i spooked him and he ran to his basking spot.

Dident touch the greens but seemd to like the finely choped cucumber.

I find that once I can get them to try a piece of (whatever) veggie...they are more likely to eat it on their own. If they have a favorite, I mix that up with the other veggies in order to get them to try the stuff that they won't eat otherwise.

I picked up some pellets today mainly so i can use as emergency food, rap-cal juvenile bearded dragon food. Gonna mix that with his salid for alittle bit, not much but just to make sure he no's he can eat it.

Btw think i read apple is good, can anyone confirm that? or is it to acidy?

LMAO he just jumped off his basking rock and lunged at his water - snaped up the cricket that was floating in it and ran and jumped back on rock. Bearded's rule.

Apples are more an "empty" source.

I would try some stick to some nice dark greens like collard, mustard, turnip, kale, swiss chard, bok choy, there are several veggies that can be used. I find my guys LOVE green peppers they devour all of them and anything that's in the way.

For fruits i usually stick with watermelon, honey dews, kiwi, mango (most exotic fruits) with the occasional grapes.

Pellets art great if your beardie will eat them. I don't think they will work as an "emergence" food because, (if you can't get crickets etc) they may not eat them right away. I find that mine had to learn that pellets are food...an still they don't eat them enough that I can stop buying those gosh darn crickets.

Mix some pellets in with the salad. Don't forget to make them soft with water or juice.

drewlowe u also answered my next question, was gonna ask about watermeleon, i came home and devourwed half a watermeleon to myself, came to think it would be good for my beardy sence the amount of water he would be takeing in from it.

Hmmm kinda odd when everything i eat or see i wonder if beardy would like :P
