The show is worth watching, if only for the scenery for those of us who have never been to OZ. He works in some truly spectacular country. Steve has done a tremendous amount of PR work for the animals we all enjoy and I'm sure has convinced many people that snakes are not just something to go out and kill just for fun. We could use somebody like him in the central Ontario cottage country.

Good intentions from the guy, but HORRIBLE explotation of his accent. Last time I saw someone push something that hard they got a hernia.

Its hard to vote .. I think he is defenetly awesome and stupid at the same time (He takes way too many risks uselessly) .. lol .. I'd like the show much more if there was any episodes I had not seen. I also find h repeats himself way tooo much. But overall - its still a great show .. great PR too!
Can't vote on this one!

Steve-o
I think that too many people critisize his handling skills having never touched a "hot" themselves. Most of the people that trash him are so jelous that they don't live his life it kills them! Leave the guy alone he's doing great work.

He is ok and does great PR. I would love to have his life no doubt. I do find his handling a bit reckless (and I keep and handle hots). I guess I just prefer the more science based animal programs over the "wow, there is an animal! let's pick it up!" shows

there was an episode where he was holding a rattler and realized he was crouched over another....
I wanted that one to bite him in the kahoonas so badly just to show him how reckless he can be... I couldn't stop laughing
He is part of the reason for my ever growing interest in herps.

steve and terri(bindi and sui too!) are simply beautiful!!!
ahhh, the good ole croc hunna! i gotta say, hes been a major inspiration to me these past few years, while i've been fighting the toughest battle i've ever faced: quitting dope. thats down, junk, smack, china white, the big 'H'. one hell of a battle, i'll tell you. hmmmm... should i really be sharing this here? oh well, i guess i will. so, its not like i didn't have about a million other reasons to quit the stuff anyways, and i have always been a fauna freak, but steve showed me that you can get more of a 'rush' just being out there with our beastly neighbours. that drugs are far from nessecary if you are passionate about other more healthy things in life, and i always have been, i just sort of got lost somewhere along the way, and started doing really, really stupid things with my life, and almost to the point of losing my life, at least how it was and is becoming again. he helped me to get back to how i used to be, getting high off of nature, and being truly happy just to walk in the woods or desert and watch the goings on of life in the wild, and to be a part of it. i could go on and on and on about how great i think the guy is, but i might start making people sick, even those of you who also love the guy!!! i don't think he takes many risks, really, dom, and the risks he does take are far from useless. sure he has had a few close calls, but he has never been envenomated, and he has been handling venomous snakes for 30 years or so, since he was a small boy, so hes is definetly highly adept... add to that the fact that he is reaching millions of people around the world throuhg his show, and showing them that these so-called 'evil, ugly monsters' are not out to get us, rather it seems that we are the ones who are out to get them, and they will only bite you if you are a percieved threat, and they feel the need to defend themselves. so he does have a reason for doing what he does, and i for one think it is a damn good reason at that. perhaps he has shown a few people who may have once swerved their car to kill a snake that this is the wrong thing to do, and gave them a new outlook... i'm sure that he has... so he is effectively saving lives with his show and what he does. i mean, if he can go around picking up the 'deadliest' snakes in the world, and survive time after time, than is it really nessecary to go running over every snake you see, with the idea that you are stopping the animal from 'hunting people down'? ok, i'm in a very typative mood, so i'll put an end to this post here and now... i apologize if i was a little off topic for a moment or more... STEVE-O RULES!!!!!

steve-o not reckless, i say!
i've gotta say this here, though... crouching over a rattler unintentionally is not 'reckless', it is simply good/bad luck, depending how you look at it. reckless would have been to ignore it and assume that it is a friendly animal and go on talking to the camera like nothings happening! instead, he got a bit nervous, no doubt, and very carefully moved out of the area that the snake was in... he was in a very hot spot, lots of timber rattlers, it was, again, not reckless, just part of herping... and reverendsterling, i agree about science shows, but steve-o is simply making a television show about his crazy herping experiences. not much different than any of us gone herping, just maybe a little more ballsy! as far as disturbing the animals, he always puts em back pretty qickly, and, like i said before, does nothing different than many herpers do when they are out herping, except records it and shows it to millions around the world!!! i hope you have never been envenomated either, rev, but i gotta say again that he can't be that reckless if hes never been, right?

steve
I think what Steve I doing is great!! theres too many people afraid of herps in genral. People say "Cold Blooded" like its a bad thing, I think the more people educated about snakes the better. Maybe we wont lose so much habitat and suffer as many loses with herps from rattle snake round ups and people who are afraid of snakes because they are'nt educated about them. The fact that steve has delt with the most venomous since he was so little is prof that if u are educated enough you can achieve anything. He has had alot of close calls but has never been envenomated by a herp. In my opinion there are few people who could go on camra and handle the hottest snakes knowing there are tons of people watching, and if he was to be invenomated imagine the headlines. Thats alot of pressure, I think he has talent!!

He's a ham but we love him anyways!
another thing to remember with Steve Irwin is that many of his animals are "planted" and also he will use animals that are a little more docile and "chilled" to slow them down.
He does ham it up alot for the camera, but he's done alot for the herp community. He may not be the brightest herper but he has fun and gets paid doing what many of us would like to do.

Yeah Steve is great but from what I hear(Im not sure if it is true) but his wife is from Oregon and she is supporting the banning of all reptiles as pets in the U.S. I know she supported the banning of dogs used for hunting bears in Washington now there are to many bears.
