Any of these good for a first T?

I looked at a lot of photos and I think these 3 species are very attractive:

Aphonopelma Mooreae Smith
Chromatopelma Cyaneopubescens Strand
Xenesthis Sp. [blue form]

Are they available to the hobbiest community??

I'm not familiar with any but the green bottle blue. I think it would be alright as a first T if you did your research.
You should go check out arachnoboards.com there will be lots of people that can help you there. Do a few searches for beginner Ts.

The only one you will find is the C. cyaneopubescens...

A. moorae might be in someone's obscure basement for all I know, but I never seen it offered anywhere...

Xenesthis sp. blue, sometimes available, very expensive and beware because some possible X. sp. white might be sold as the blue...

you should stick to reliable invert dealers in the US...

Try John Hoke, great guy and extremely trustworthy:

http://www.e-spiderworld.com/

Or Kelly Swift (I never talked to him, but he has a flawless reputation, very popular dealer):

http://www.swiftinverts.com/

They should have some for you.

Good luck

Martin

Send a message via MSN to skinheaddave
I have dealt with Swifty -- had some scorpions shipped to an American friend. I would strongly recommend him.

Cheers,
Dave
