Alright, first breeding attempt for anything ever in my life lol! boy im so excited i can barely type. Anyways, i put my male albino with my female albino. I saw them 'do it' and the male took out his hemipenis and got it inside her 100 percent so now what should i do. Do i split them up or keep them together? How long can i expect to see some eggs in the girl?

Congrats. You can choose to leave her in with the male or to seperate them. If he constantly harasses her to "get some" then you may want to give her a cage of her own to reduce stress. Otherwise they can remain cage-mates. You will need to provide a laying box for her and she should lay in about 15-21 days.

Be sure to have an incubator set up ahead of time so that you can be sure that the temps are stable.

True! Ill have to pick up a submersable heater thingy tomorrow. Crud, and another 10 gallon tank. Sooo much preparing now

congrats. I usually take the male out and leave the female by herself. Less stress this way on the female. It can take anywhere from 14 to 30 days for the eggs to be laid. I have a few girls that lay every 14-15 days and then some that lay once a month. You should be able to see the eggs developing in a few days. You can see them right through their bellies. It's pretty neat. Make sure she has a nice moist hide (I use peatmoss and vermiculite) to lay in. And make sure she gets lots of calcium.

They will still eat while in the process of having the eggs?
Also, how deep should the laying box be. I have a humid hide now, the entrance is from the front, but should i make a new one with an entrance from the top?? and should it not be see through?

I've got to get some better updated pictures but the hide should have the opening on top you can use a container that is clean all around with a colored top. Like below. It doesn't have to be that big though, that was last year when I housed 1.4 leos together, now all my females are separate so I know who is laying what and when.

My leos will still eat right up until a couple days before they lay, then they will stop. A day or 2 after they lay they will eat like little piggies.

nope, you don't need a large hole about 2 inches is fine. That will help keep it moist better and you'll have less chance of the eggs drying out if you don't find then right away. My eggs can be left in the cage for a couple days without problems as long as the girls lay them in the hide. First year breeders sometimes are stubborn and lay elsewhere. Good luck with it. Don't forget to get your incubator ready a.s.a.p. I use a hovabator for that as well. works great.

congrats on the eggies. Here's one of my ladies showing her belly full of 2 eggs.

see the black in the middle of her belly, on either side is white....that would be the eggs

side view:

look at the belly from the head towards tail, you will notice an abrupt change.....that is the eggies.

hope that helps show you what to look for

Pump that lady full of good stuff.....silkworms or butterworms....calcium dish in her tank......she needs it to help develop the babies. PLUS: from only one mating, you can get many clutches.....which can quickly decline a leo's health.....so she needs to be spoiled rotten.

I use a 1lb margarine tub, with a hole in the side, damp peat moss.....for a laying box. OR, whatever I have handy LOL ( small kritter keeper, gladware, etc...but all same principal, moist peatmoss, and covered. )

definately get the incubator set up. I use a homemade one, or my snake rack. The homemade one took me a couple days to get the temps stable. ( just fyi ). OH....since the warm weather is here, make SURE you put it in a room that the temp does NOT vary much. Example: mine is in my basement....temp varies maybe 1-3degrees throughout the day......HOWEVER, the other rooms heat up, over 5+ degrees during the day. which would make for cooked eggs

Good job. My leo first had eggs when I was 13, and I still have her, so lets see if I can remember. I would say to seperate the geckos because sometimes the male will take over the hide, and with that taking away your chance for babies.
Get an extra cage and put bricks init. Fill with as much water without going above the bricks. put a plastic shoebox on the bricks and put holes and vermiculite inside. cover big cage with plastic wrap. you can get a submersible water heater for about 15 bucks.
