Anaconda pix
` This Anaconda has been crawling on this cat since the Anaconda was two feet long. And, nobody makes that 20 pound Tomcat do anything he doesn't want to do.
` I hope you enjoy the pix.

Yup, that Anaconda is from NERD, almost six years ago.
Actually the Anaconda will not mistake a cat for its food.
If he was starving, perhaps he would choose to tackle the cat.
He is fat from the winter, however.
Besides, he only eats food that's put in his mouth.

Yeah, those are cute pictures, but as matt said, it is just a matter of time, the yellow is getting bigger - and you will not want to look at those pictures after an accident happnens.
I'm betting on the 'Conda! Just for the record.
Nice Cat.

Seriously, it's going to happen. It will be very unfortunate because people should know better, but who are we to interject our opinion
Post the pics when it does happen so we can show them to the next guy....

What about the little girl??
.` It's really interesting to me that none of you who expressed concern about the cat's safety expressed concern about the little girl's safety.
` Why is that?
`
`
` That old Tomcat is almost 18, and way too tough and gristly to be feeding to Anacondas. He, and the Anaconda are loved pets. If I felt that I was not in control of the situation, they wouldn't be allowed together.
` Notice that, if there is a problem, it will be literally in my lap.
` That Anaconda grew up in my pocket , or around my neck, in a pet store. He swam with the Discus and Angelfish, and was handled by dozens of people every day.
` He got fed too much, because he will take food from the hand, without striking or constricting, and everybody wanted to see that, so he got way too big. He sold lots of snakes for me.
` He, and the cat, do not behave typically, for their species. I certainly wouldn't throw just any Anaconda, and cat, together.
` That old cat has been playing with Boids for years. Like the little girl, he is never with a snake, unsupervised.
` Besides all that, if I were going to feed cats to the snake, I would feed more nutritious cats, like this one.

i dont think anyone expressed concern for the girl because the snake is still too small to pose much of a threat to her.
When the snake reaches 10-11 feet, Im sure you would receive plenty of concern for the girl.

He is 10 feet long, now. Almost 30 pounds. Unusually large for a male Yellow Anaconda.

Mammals are prime food for large predators much like your conda is. I highly doubt that the little girl will ever be mistaken for food, at this time.
There are many occurrences where a burm, retic, conda or other large snake have eaten cats, dogs and even goats. How is a "Tomcat" any different? Seriously, that cat stands no chance when that snake is big and hungry enough to eat the darn thing. Even the most docile and "human" of snakes have bit their owners and eaten another 'close animal' family member. That cat will put up a fight no doubt, and lets hope so. After all, it is a Tomcat. Still.....I see it as a very risky move. Your conda is not a human, as much as you think it may act as one.
