Irian Jaya Carpets VS Jungle Carpets?
Hi all,
Just trying to get an accurate comparison of IRJs and JCPs.
I know the JCPs get larger but are their colors in general brighter than that of the IRJs? I want an impressive specimen with great colors. Also, is it easy to tell what the colors are going to be like from looking at babies? Heard that it can take a while for colors to come through. Are the prices for these species fairly similar and reasonable?
You guys know of someone who will be at the Calgary show in April with these species?
Thanks,
-Reptiguy-

Jungles are brighter than ijcp's, but some lines will darken alot and not be so bright, as babies you can tell who will be nice most of the time but a good way to know is to check out the parents as it's all genetics. As far as availability Both Jeff favelle and I have clutches incubating right now and we are on Vancouver Island. Haven't seen anyone else post clutches yet this season but I'm sure they are out there. Irians can have nice colours as well they just aren't as bold and bright more of a rust and black and golden typically.
Good luck
Scott

Well, you have two choices....
Black and gold
OR
Black, gold and everything in between!!!
I must say I am slightly biased! LOL!
But seriously, it is going to be harder to find a clean bright IJ than it will be to find a good looking Jungle. This is strictly because Jungles have been selectively bred for many more years than Irian Jayas have.

Oh for sure Yasser they do come in beautiful colours like that one there but for "bright" like he wanted I would say jungle but there are some killer irians out there.

Its all in the eye of the beholder. No one can tell you which one to get. It would be like telling you what to eat for dinner, or what girls to date (I like the ones with 2 legs myself! :-)).
All things being equal, they require similar care, grow to about the same size, cost roughly the same, etc etc. So pick the one that YOU like best.

There will most likely be quite a few vendors with JCPs available for sure (Henry Piorun, Gord Redman, Nett, Tyrone Smith, Tony Platt), but not so many IJCP in Calgary. My friend Kyle may get a couple clutches of IJCP this year but not in time for Calgary spring show. Henry may have some? Mark

Id personally go for the Jungles but that very biased..
Morph .. theres so many more ppl the those two working with em ..
Althoguh I get the feeling that u were refering to breeders in vancoucer..
I have on gravid female and actually an other laying her eggs right now lol .. Hence the reason i am still up at 2am .. Here in Ottawa.. I know of 4 ppl working with em .. (succesfully breeding em) .. I can't even imagine how many ppl just in Toronto or across Canada.. Vancouver is simillar (somewhat) in size to Ottawa so I am guessing theres got to be a half to a douzev of succesfull breeders of jungles out there.. Just my guess
Anywho
Take care
Dom

I'd be surprised if there wasn't at least 60 Jungle clutches in Canada this year (7 of them here, by me). LOTS to choose from is an understatement.
But keep in mind, DEMAND to see pictures of the babies, and most definitely DEMAND to see pictures of the parents. Then go with what appeals to YOUR eyes the most! That's the fun part! Its all up to you, and no one can tell you what you do or do not like!!
Cheers.

With any luck I'll produce my first clutch of JCP this year also. Time will tell. I spoke to Kyle today & one of his IJ just laid (with another clutch expected yet?) & his JCP laid last week also. He should have both IJCP & JCP available in time for the Red Deer show there "reptiguy" & will be attending the Calgary spring show also. Mark
P.S. Ya Jeff 60+ is probably an understatement ??? It don't matter anyway because everyone knows the nicest ones are all produced in Western Canada anyhow eh, Right Dom! LOL

Tim,
I must say I really like that thin banded one...one scale width away from making a black jungle! Do you think you'll get babies from that one this year?

Yasser,
I might. Still not sure though. Those two have been breeding off and on for about three months now, but I haven't seen ovulation or any type of behavior typical of my other gravid jungles. Oh well, it may be another unsuccessful year for her. I may not be much closer to producing jungles with even less yellow, but I get to look at her every day
Keep working on those irians. You're doing amazing things with them.
