I bought some med rats for my bp last week and there like 2wice as long as hte small rats im feeding him. Im wondering if i should give him the med rat to see if he'll take it, but im thinking its too long for him. He takes small rats no problem and could use something a bit bigger but i dont know if these are too big. heres a pic of him bit blurry though.
Well my male BP is 40 inches long and eats a medium rat easily though it does leave a large bump for a few days. Thats just IMO though id give it a try if its at least 3 feet long.

I measured him before and hees about 32inches. The small rats are about teh same size as his girth, the mediums are a bit bigger hten his girth, but there also twice as long as the smalls. I think i'll try a medium at his next feeding to see how it goes.
Length is not the issue, girth is. If you choose to listen to the old 'girth of the food item 1.5 times the girth of your snake', then by all means, go for it. I've fed by balls food items that weigh 30% of their own body weight. You'll have no trouble, but you'll never really know until you try it..
