i own a 2 ft male columbian red tailed boa and it seems to be in good health except for a little scratch on its side that looks like it going ot heal but ive heard that snakes can get sick alot and i dont know if i should regularly take it into a vet like every couple of months... i dont want it to get sick and die so should i spend the money to get a vet or what???

Snakes only get sick a lot if they aren't taken care of properly. If taken care of properly, there is no reason that animal cannot go its whole life without falling ill. You should establish a good herp vet however, the best care in the world cannot prevent all problems, just like with any animal. Make sure all the conditions are correct, and practice good quarantine and sanitation measures and you should be fine
