snakers glad to see your on the look out for this problem....first off do your research really well...talk with those who are responsible for the care of these animals....find out if its a product of not being educated ..and if so give them the tools......If its a case of some uncaring $@#!@# than please do report it.
I always recomend talking to the people first and even threatening with a call to the authorities.....i would be nice to see things change with out bad publicity for the rept. trade. but if it doesn't or won't get fixed you have an obligation to report this. I would be interested in discusing this further with you and see if there is any assistance that i can give to the matter.
Good luck..this is very important

humane society.....well.....the humane society ......i guess i should just come out and say it ...the humane society sucks........these are the biggest group of rejects that i have ever come across...while there are the ocasional good person in this net work, as a whole they are abunch of well intentioned people with no clue about animals.....if it where up to them no animal would be aloud to be kept. they are funded partly by our government to help and this does include reptiles...but they are rarely aware of there job........if it is a true problem first thing i would do is find out the by law in the community where the violater is living...if they are braking a by-law contact the by-law office...animal control. these offices are quicker to act but you will have to be identified to the party.....these organizations will have them charged and you will be named.
pls. everyone read mission statements of the humane society .. not just the canadian one but the american humane society ...find out what it is they want......and if you disagree stop your support if any....there are lots of good programs out there and obviously lots of good people....your a good example...we need to stand up together to protect ourselves..our trade...our animals...and all animals.

Here in NB wew report to the SPCA Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals animal protection Officer. Call you local SPCA to find out who your Animal Protection Officer is.
Good luck,
Trevor

I emailed the humane society and asked a few questions so I'll just have to make the final decision as to whether I want to report them or not..I know the by laws and there are a couple of animals that aren't supposed to be there..

It should be noted that the Humane Society has been campaigning to have reptiles banned as pets for the last decade or so. :P

Many places do not recognize reptiles in their animal cruelty statutes, so you may not have any recourse... I would start by calling local animal control and see where they point you to. City police and the RCMP might do something. Health department might do something. They'd all be better than the Humane Society... which though well intentioned, generally do not have the facilities or knowledge to adequately judge reptile cases.

Hey,
You might just want to call "Animal Control", and they are obligated by law to intervene no matter what kind or type of animal it is, to take control of the situation and remove any animal from the abuser forwith. This is a worst case scenerio.
