Frightened snake

I nearly stepped on this guy on my way out to my rodent shed. Cool for around here today. Maybe about 65F. He wasn't pleased that I scared him.

Neat. You're so lucky to live where you do. What type of snake is that?

And 65F being warm.... man, I wish I lived in Florida. It's not too cold up here, but still, thats gotta be nice.

Hope you have an extra room cause I'm on my way with my new camera. LOL. You are so lucky to have all those snakes around, I'm so jealous.

Sorry for not identifying him. Southern black racer. Coluber constrictor priapus. He gave me the obligatory musking when I picked him up , of course. An unusually foul dose too!LOL!

Great pic Mark. We have them all over the yard but I can never get that close for a pic though. I used to keep one. They are a great snake.
