VENT....watch out :-o bad day

Why is it, because you ask questions some places people automatically ASSUME you don't take your animal to the vet?????

On another board, a wellknown iguana mailing list, I've been asking questions about my gravid iggy. Never do I get a straight answer, but "take her to the vet..." repeated without the questions answered.

I have taken her to the flippin vet.....I've spent $300 on this lizard in the past week. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. All I want is what's best for my baby, and to learn as much as I can about her situation.

How do we learn? by asking questions.

Yes, I know some people just don't want a vet bill.
BUT please DON'T ASSUME just because someone asks a question, that they have not taken their animal to the vet.

>(

BTW: all my questions here are answered, and without assumptions. Thank you.

Just out of curiosity, did you say in your post on the other board that you've already taken her to the vet?

IMHO most vets don't have a clue what they are doing when it comes to reptiles. If it wasn't for animal medicine books Vet's wouldn't even have a clue how to deal with Reptiles. Ever wonder why they all go into the back room after your examination and then come back out to tell you how to treat them?....It's because they dont' have a clue what they are doing and then have to consult their vet tech books who's solution to everything is "baytril"...........

I agree with unknownclown. Lets say you "My leo has a reddish spot on her tummy. What could of caused this?" if people don't know, instead of saying "I don't know", they'll just say "Take her to the vet!!" so that it will look as if they actually DO know.

....Err... am I sort of making sense?

No vet is the same. Some do have the experience in reptiles as some others don't. I have had more bad experiences with vets, but none the less I did end up finding one that is perfect for my reptiles.

Don't let it get to yah, my guess is they either don't want to give bad advice or they don't really have an answer.

Yea mason.. that pinky doesn't look too healthy. I would first remove the snake, and then get it to a vet!

But yea, I see where you're coming from. And you're absolutly right.

Oh, and BTW, I really do hope that stockwell was drunk, otherwise that's just scary.
